Sweet Dreams
There are over a hundred ways
To say good night,
But only one real way
To say it right.
You don't have to reply,
It's quite alright,
Yet for me, I think,
This is good night.
And when you decide
From reality to flee,
Would it be so terribly difficult
To come dream with me?
To race through space?
To dine on moons?
To make the planets your plates,
And the dippers your spoons?
To go deep sea diving
With the king of the whales?
Become the courageous protagonist
Of some fantastic tales?
Would it be so terribly difficult
To give me that time?
Would a few short adventures
Be such a crime?
I would keep you safe,
I would keep you warm.
I would first sacrifice myself
To keep you from harm.
Please consider these feelings,
As the world fades from sight,
For I think the time has finally come
To say my last good night.
But will you be here tomorrow?
