"Silent Beauty"

Silence is beauty,
And beauty is silent.
Admiration doesn't require speech.
So do not speak.

Instead,
Take the time to feel.
When we speak,
We like to lie.

We like to fill our words
With what we think everyone wants to hear.
But words aren't truth.
What we are is truth.

How can we see that
When we're too busy speaking?
In silence we can truly feel each other.
We can enjoy each others company
And draw on each others strength.

Our world is filled with enough empty words.
I don't want to add to that count.
Yet you pull away,
As though stung
By something too cruel to bear.
Truth.

Do you enjoy the lies?
You can't allow yourself
To be comforted by untruth.
Yet somehow you are.

You cling to the importance of words
And miss what the person really feels.
You're blind.
And I follow you
With religious devotion.
You're my savior.
Don't lead me even more astray.

Next time,
Take extra special care
To listen to the silence.
Maybe then you'll understand
What I'm trying to say.
